Hans Williams is an independent singer-songwriter from Norwich, Vermont. First releasing music in third grade when he would hand out CDs after school, Hans fell in love with songwriting as a means of finding comfort and relief. After uploading a couple of songs on Spotify in high school, Hans quickly amassed a strong community of listeners before graduating.
In 2020, Hans debuted "Body on My Shoulders," reflecting on his experience as a first responder to a floormate’s suicide in the first few days of freshmen year at Tulane University, which has since become a mutually therapeutic anthem for Williams, the Tulane community, and beyond.
In February of 2022, Hans released “All Is Well,” a follow up to “Body On My Shoulders.” Hans says of the release, “writing ‘All Is Well’ felt like a natural extension to writing ‘Body on My Shoulders.’ While releasing ‘Body on My Shoulders’ brought a great deal of relief, I still thought about my experience more than seemed normal and wasn’t always willing to open up to my immediate community. Since many of my friends had the same experience, it was hard to start those conversations. I felt like I was opening up someone else’s wound at the expense of closing my own.”
Often advocating for mental health awareness, Williams’ had the honor of sharing how he has coped with trauma through his music at the annual Josselyn Center event in Chicago, Illinois in November 2022. Josselyn Center is a community mental health center, providing comprehensive care such as therapy, psychiatry, support groups, and more.
To wrap up 2022, Hans released "Willows,” seeing the free-flowing confidence Hans has developed in himself and his music, just two days before selling out his debut headline show at Tipitina’s in New Orleans.
Fast forward to 2023, after selling out his last headline show in New Orleans as a student at Tipitina’s, and now a graduate from Tulane University, Williams looks to continue performing across the U.S. as he embarks on his first summer run tour and gears up for his debut project later this year.
