Singer-songwriter and guitarist Suzanne Sheridan is best known for her variety of evocative and authentic tributes - from Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, and Bob Dylan, to Carole King, Carly Simon, Gordon Lightfoot and more. Her unique ability to make these iconic voices her own creates an experience that is at once familiar and all-new, adventurous and intimate. On August 12 at the Levitt Pavilion, Suzanne will be adding another musical icon to her list of tributes: LINDA RONSTADT.
Suzanne has performed at Voices Café on several occasions, most recently with The Kennedys and David Tamulevich for a Peter, Paul, and Mary tribute; has an ongoing appearance schedule at Westport’s First Folk Sunday music series; produced and
performed for five years the “Coffeehouse at the Wheeler’s” series at the Westport Historical Society; in New York at The Bitter End, Gertie’s Folk City, and Reno Sweeney’s; and at venues in California, Canada, and Australia.
Suzanne also is the voice of the Clio Award-winning commercial jingle “Join the Pepsi People” and others including Hasbro Toys and Texaco. She also wrote music for the PBS children’s show, “The Electric Company.” With her life partner and spouse, Suzanne co-wrote the country cult hit “90 Pound Suburban Housewife Driving in Her SUV”. With songwriter Lee Kweller, Suzanne wrote “The Power’s in You” which received an Honorable Mention Award in the Gospel category at the John Lennon Songwriting Contest.
A long-time Westporter, Suzanne helped organize in 2002 the town’s first Fairfield County Pride Festival. She and Rozanne were recently honored by Triangle Community Center with the 2023 Community Choice Visionary Award for their visionary work in
helping to establish Marriage Equality in the State of Connecticut. The award was presented by Congressman Jim Himes.
BAND MEMBERS:
BOB COOPER (keyboard) played piano in the John Mooney Blues Band (1978-1981), performing in New Orleans at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Tipitina’s and other venues. He appeared on John Mooney’s first two recordings: “Comin’ Your Way (1978) and “Telephone King” (1981). He has played with many bands since then. He was the keyboard player for Harvey Robbins’ Doo-Wopp Hall of Fame concerts from 2000-2009, including the annual Boston Symphony Hall induction ceremony. He also plays with Monterey Collective, The Backup Band, Uptown Jazz, and currently with Roger Kaufman’s Old School Revue and “Billy and the Showmen”. TIM DeHUFF (electric lead guitar) is truly a world-class guitarist. He is a native
Westporter who has been playing, recording, and teaching guitar since he was a teenager. Among many greats that he has performed with are Larry Coryell, Joe Beck, Vicki Sue Robinson, Johnny Winter, and Charlie Karp. As DeHuff says, “My first real gig came in Los Angeles when I was 20 years old.” He toured with The Main Ingredient performing at venues such as Shea Stadium and the L.A. Forum. This led to meeting and recording with drummer extraordinaire, Alphonse Mouzon. At that session, he was honored to be sitting next to Lee Ritenour, Dave Grusin, David Benoit abd George Duke. After his experience on the West Coast, he moved to New York City and did movie soundtrack and jingle work with the help of guitarist Joe Beck. Back in Connecticut in his hometown of Westport, he was given a steady gig on Sunday nights at The Players Tavern. Here is where he was able to truly hone his jazz skills amongst the best players in the Tri-State area. The stage at “The Tavern” will always hold a significant place in his life, as it was a playground for many musicians in and out of the area. DeHuff has remained a steady favorite of area audiences and his reputation beyond the area has remained in its rightful position at the top of the list.
DAVE EDWARDS (bass and backup vocals) has had a career that spans rock clubs, cathedrals, cruise ships, concert halls, the White House and the United Nations. He has performed in venues including CBGBs, Birdland, Lincoln Center, and Rockwood Music Hall, sharing the stage and studio with some of the finest musicians in jazz, rock, and worship music. Dave has recorded or performed with jazz greats such as Rufus Reid, John Patitucci, Donny McCaslin, Oz Noy, Mike Stern, Randy Brecker, John Blake Sr., Ed Palermo, and Todd Williams. He has also recorded or performed with progressive rock band Kansas, disco legend Gloria Gaynor, pop artist Nick Jonas, singer/actress Bethany Joy Lenz, Porter Carroll Jr, and the Ed Palermo Big Band (Frank Zappa project). As a recording artist and session player, Dave’s drumming and bass work appear in sample libraries and licensing collections including Big Fish Audio’s Vintage Big Band, Funk/Soul City, and Vegas Loops, as well as TV and film scoring projects. "Easily the most gifted multi-instrumentalist I have ever heard. In addition to a remarkably rich and moving tenor voice, any band would be lucky to have him as their sole Drummer, Guitarist, Pianist or Bassist. To be able to play brilliantly on both a conceptual and technical level on four separate and demanding instruments and also play well on fiddle, dulcimer and other instruments is a marvel to behold."— Rob Mathes, producer (Sting, Springsteen, Pavarotti, Yo-Yo Ma)
JOE SULLIVAN (drums) – having played with the likes of Butch Taylor, Voodoo Carnival, and The Girls, Joe Sullivan is very proud to add The Suzanne Sheridan Band to his list of great Connecticut bands with whom he has played.
KIM CROWTHER MANNING (backup vocals) is no stranger to music audiences in Westport. Kim is a native Westporter, and has been a part of the Westport music scene since the 1970’s. She has been part of Chris Coogan’s Gospel Choir, founded the rock
group Voodoo Carnival, created the current musical group The Girls, and sang with Suzanne Sheridan at the Carole King Tribute concert at Voices Café. Kim’s presence in a musical group guarantees excellence.
